Marketing reviewed Andrew Ruinoff/Jaime Thorpe
I got an interim contract through them and up until the offer it was an okay experience. The trouble came when the recruiter bullied me into setting up a limited company because that’s what suited their client (a large credit card organisation) best. I didn’t want to be a company owner but they didn’t take my views into consideration or take me through alternative options. It was a hard sell. The limited company has a lot of paperwork for setting up and you have to do the accounts yourself and submit financial statements, much like a large firm. They mislead me into setting up the company with misinformation. The client was impatient with the situation and withdrew the offer. This was a bad experience all round. I complained to the recruiter concerned and went through the full complaints process. I never used the unwanted limited company and ended up closing it. The whole process cost me money as well as lost income from the withdrawn contract. For other contracts I used an umbrella setup which worked better for me. I wish the recruiter at Experis took me through that option.
